Accounting
With an Associates Degree in Accounting, you may work in positions such as accounts receivable, bookkeeping, auditing, and payroll. In these roles, you will typically work with financial transactions, update statements, and check financial records for accuracy. The AAS in Accounting will allow you to jump-start your career and set you on a path to broader positions in Business and Management.
As an accountant, you will be expected to be familiar with one or more common financial/accounting programs, with the movement to automate accounting duties through software tools. This shift to technology will also require workers to focus on analyzing books and advising clients.
With an Accounting Certificate, you will work under a manager and assist with accounts payable/receivables, journal entries, correspondence, and a myriad of other duties related to the financial operation of a business. It’s a great way to test the waters in accounting, a skill that is useful in most jobs and on a day-to-day basis, with minimal time invested.
What’s the Job Outlook for Accountant/Bookkeeper/Auditors?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing is projected to decline 5% between 2021 – 2031 primarily due to the move to technology. As with any industry, they need to replace workers who retire or move to new occupations.
