Database Administrators keep data organized, available and secure for authorized users, even in cases of power outages and disasters. As a Database Administrator, you’ll work with people across an organization—from data analysts to system managers and beyond–to ensure the integrity of an organization’s systems and the data they store.

As a DBA, you can work anywhere, but most find employment at computer systems firms like internet service providers and data-processing firms. DBAs are also in high demand at insurance companies, banks, healthcare firms, and retail establishments where large amounts of customer personal data are stored. 

What’s the Job Outlook for Database Administrators?

As companies’ data needs increase, so will the demand for database administrators, or DBAs. The U.S. Department of Labor projects employment for DBAs will grow 9% in the next decade, faster than the average for all occupations.

How long does it take to earn a Database Administrator Certificate?

It takes an average of 3 semesters, or 1.5 years, to complete a Database Administrator Certificate. 

What will I learn in the Database Administrator program?

In this program, you will learn the fundamentals of database concepts, programming languages, and operating systems. You’ll also learn how to navigate Oracle and Microsoft systems. By the end of the program, you will be familiar with the most commonly used databases.
