Meet Vernon C. Allen Jr.

Trustee Vernon C. Allen, Jr. was elected to the Wayne County Community College District's Board of Trustees in November 2006. Mr. Allen has a long and distinguished career serving Metropolitan Detroit in many areas. He is retired from the City of Detroit, where he held the position of Deputy City Clerk. He also served an executive board member of the 13th Congressional District and administrative vice president of the Trade Union Leadership Council.  He also served the WCCCD Board as chairperson of the Finance/Personnel/Facilities Standing committee

A lifetime member of the NAACP, Mr. Allen is a Vietnam combat veteran and a champion for veterans’ issues, voter education and voter rights.  He is a lifetime Detroit resident.
