Services for Faculty
WCCCD librarians provide library orientations to teach students how to access online and traditional print materials. A basic library tour includes introductions to the library online catalog, magazine and journal databases, and the internet. It can also be tailored to suit the needs of an individual instructor and class. Instructors, you need to:
- Schedule an appointment for library orientations so that students may develop their information-seeking skills.
- Share research assignments beforehand with librarians so that library orientations are focused and effective.
- Attend library orientations with classes so as to emphasize the tours' importance.

We encourage instructors to collaborate with their campus librarians when developing research assignments. Librarians can:
- Assess whether the library has the necessary resources to support assignment
requirements. - Recommend relevant print and electronic sources to enrich students’ research
experience. - Identify materials that may be in high demand and should be placed on reserve.
If you would like to place an item on reserve—either from the library’s collection or your own materials—please complete a Reserves Request Form and submit it to your campus library.
The Learning Resource Centers (LRCs) subscribe to a variety of multimedia collections that support instruction across academic disciplines and program areas. These include:
- Films on Demand: A comprehensive, curriculum-focused streaming video platform offering essential titles to enhance classroom instruction and independent learning.
- Kanopy: An on-demand streaming service that provides access to films, documentaries, educational videos, and TV shows for both public and academic use.
These resources are accessible both on campus and remotely.
For assistance or questions, feel free to visit your campus LRC or email us at lrchelp@wcccd.edu.

- Submit a request using the AV Equipment Semester Reservation Request Form, contact your campus LRC, or email lrchelp@wcccd.edu.
- Faculty and staff are responsible for picking up and returning the requested equipment.
- Reserved equipment not picked up within 30 minutes of the scheduled time may be forfeited for that day.
- Submit requests at least one week in advance to ensure availability.
- If you experience issues with AV equipment, return it to your campus LRC for areplacement.
- For issues with SMART Technology in the classroom, please contact your campus IT department.
