What Do I Do Next?

Now that you know you are eligible, you must register for the Detroit Promise before you graduate.

  • Fill out the Detroit Promise registration form and select Wayne County Community College District as your College choice.
  • Apply for the FAFSA by March 1st.
  • Apply to WCCCD [Link].
  • Take Assessments and register for classes.

What Does It Cover?

Detroit Promise arranges last-dollar funding for eligible students to cover the costs of tuition and mandatory fees. This means that any Pell and/or TIP funding must be applied to a student’s tuition and fees bill first. Look for other scholarships to help with coverage for books, transportation, computers, etc.

Note: This program does not cover living expenses or incidental expenses.

What’s The Difference Between a Two-Year and Four-Year College?

Two-year colleges offer associate degrees and technical certificates, while four-year colleges offer at least a Bachelor’s degree and are more expensive. Usually, you can transfer credits from a two-year college to a four-year school.
