Associate of Science
An Associate of Science degree provides students with a natural or physical sciences education that prepares them for a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college or university. The Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) Associate of Science program provides students with a foundational education in math and sciences, including chemistry, mathematics, biology, and physics.
The program is designed for students who plan to major in pre-professional studies in such areas as medicine, dentistry, engineering, dietetics, and environmental and natural resources.
What’s Required to Complete the Associate of Science Program?
An Associate of Science (AS) from WCCCD requires 60 total credits, and you’ll take general education courses.
Some students plan to transfer to a four-year college or university after earning their AS. If that’s your goal, you might choose specific courses. Talk with your advisor about a personalized plan that meets your goals.
How Long Does it Take to Earn an Associate of Science Degree?
Most AA students take four semesters (2 years) to complete AS degree prerequisites and required courses.
What Will I Learn as an Associate of Science Student?
WCCCD AS students gain useful career skills and opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use.
