Michigan Institute for Public Safety Education (MIPSE)
The Michigan Institute for Public Safety Education (MIPSE) was built in response to the tremendous increase in the demand for FireFighters, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Industrial Safety Training programs. The Michigan Institute for Public Safety Education provides Homeland Security, Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS, and industrial personnel throughout the surrounding communities, state, and at the national level with emergency response education and training services in a safe and controlled environment. Prior to this facility, there was no training center in Wayne, Monroe, or Washtenaw County to provide homeland security, fire, law enforcement, EMS, and industrial specialized, realistic, and safe emergency training opportunities open to the community. The 10-acre, $6 million facility houses a 5-story fire tower, a 12,000-square-foot training center, a 50,000-square-foot driving training area, and a man-made lake for water rescue simulations. The MIPSE also includes aircraft, vehicles, ships, and residential room fire simulators.
Regional Training Center
The Regional Training Center (RTC) is the hub for and supports the Construction Trades Training Program (CTTP), Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and other skilled training programs under Workforce Development education. It is also home to major external partnerships with the RTC.
Language Institute
The Language Institute was established for the purpose of increasing the study of foreign languages and cultures for Wayne County Community College District’s students and community.
Design Center
Chancellor Curtis L. Ivery created the Design Center in 2015 to serve as the district’s innovation and entrepreneurial epicenter to facilitate, support, and advocate redesign and improvement projects that expedite the achievement of WCCCD's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
